This one is not to be missed! Michael Moore's amazing website, now maintained by his wife Donna Chesner. The site includes links to the incredibly informative manuals Michael wrote, including specific indications, tincturing, and formulas for various body systems. He also compiled links to other terrific herbal resources. Michael Moore's manuals, videos, and audio recordings of his courses may be ordered through his site.

A direct link to the FAQ page on Loren Cordain's The Paleo Diet website. Incredibly helpful for many because it often eliminates common food allergens and addresses insulin resistance, a paleo diet or some aspects of it may be recommended. Visit this link to learn more about this approach. (Side note: I was first introduced to some of these concepts when enrolled in Dr. Cordain's classes at CSU!)

Publishers of the Nutrition Action newsletter. Though some of their viewpoints are rather mainstream and conservative (IMHO), they also often lead the industry in researching the impact of food ingredients on our health. They often battle for changes in legislation addressing aspects of nutrition which negatively impact Americans' health (think childhood obesity, artficial food dyes, etc).

Sure, the label says it's "natural" or "organic", but what's really in those lotions, shampoos, and other body care products we use on ourselves and our children? This fantastic site, a branch of their main site at www.ewg.org, will allow you to search specific products, brands, or ingredients. Learn which ingredients might pose a cancer risk or are known endocrine disruptors, and receive recommendations for products with fewer potentially harmful ingredients. We can't eliminate all risk, but it's at least great to be able to make educated choices and determine for ourselves which risks are worth the taking.

Depending on the source, iatrogenic deaths are considered either the number 1 or 2 killer in the US. Additionally, the Nutrition Institute of America reports that over 2.2 million Americans are injured every year by prescription drugs. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for the health problem a client complains of to be the result of one or more prescriptions they are taking--this link is all too often missed by the medical professional prescribing the medication in the first place. My advice? Research every prescription and over-the-counter med you use or are prescribed to better understand how it impacts you, your health, and how it may interact with anything else you take. The best patient is a well-informed patient.
